Annecy is a territory in the Haute-Savoie department in the Rhne-Alpes region in south-eastern France. It is located on the northern tip of Lake Annecy (Lac d'Annecy), which is situated at 35 kilometers south of Geneva.

The town of Annecy is surrounded by mountains. These mountains are Le Mont Verier, Le Semnoz, La Tournette and the Parmelan. The city of Annecy is the site for the second round of General Agreement of Tariffs and Trade (GATT) talks in 1949.

Annecy as Host of Tour de France

Annecy hosted the 18th round of Tour de France. It was a starting/end point for an individual time trial around Lake Annecy. It was announced as one of the three cities to host 2018 Winter Olympics along with Munich in Germany and Pyeongchang in South Korea. Annecy will be fourth French City to host Winter Olympic Games after Chamonix 1924), Grenoble (1968), and Albertville (1992).
